An Emigrants Wake It was the tradition in the eighteenth and nineteenth centauries when someone emigrated to the New World to hold an Emigrants Wake to mark their going. Unlike the traditional Irish Wake following a death, the subject of the wake was very much alive. However it was most unlikely that the emigrant would ever return to Ireland. So he/she got the opportunity to join in in their own wake. Join us for a night of Irish music and dance and
perhaps a drop of whiskey or Guinness followed
by Irish Coffee and toasted soda bread |
